All my life, I have never known a single soul who shared my unusual first name. Through the internet however, I have learned that there are actually quite a few Karlyns out there! I’m sure there are many who are not on the internet either, but I have no way of knowing who they are.

For the ones who are on the internet though.. writers, designers, students, webmasters, shop owners, who ever they are.. I wanted to make a listing here. Just for fun, but also as a way to sort of bring us all together in cyberspace and show each other (and all who happen upon this page), how truly unique we are. 7-20-06 Meet Karlyn Kucans - “Saline, Michigan - I am just blown away by all the other Karlyns there are throughout the world. Like all the other Karlyns I always thought I was the only one! I am sure that all of us Karlyns will agree though that even though no one gets our name right, everyone comments on how nice the name is. Of course I had to marry a Kucans which sounds very funny with Karlyn! Nice to finally feel “normal” with my name!”

5-11-06 Meet Karlyn Cynthia Solis - “Florida, born 1981-WOW, I am floored, I swear, I really, truly thought that I was the one and only!!! I was going to be Karly Lynn, after Carly Simon and my Aunt Karla, but my mom decided against that and combined the two and gave me my Aunt Cindy’s name as my middle name!! It seems very surreal to see other people with MY name, I guess because it is not as common as Rebecca or Stephanie!!! I have been called everthing-Karen, Carolyn, Kathryn, Carmen……..but, I have always taken that in stride!! It is wonderful to find others with the same name, I was just playing on the internet and decided to google my name-I was blown away!! 5-27-05 Meet Karlyn Masters - “Hi, I’m also Karlyn. I have never met so many Karlyn’s, wow. I am 22 and live in Oregon. I am a Biology major and will soon be applying to med school. My mom worked with a women named Karlyn in washington, they are teachers, and got the name from her. They no longer know eachother now. I have never met another Karlyn, but I have met a Carlin in Alaska. Although this last summer I met a man with the last name Karlin. It is strange. I get called carolin, karly, Karen, all the worng names as well. It has never botherd me too much though, I guess I am just used to it. It was nice to read about everyone else.”

4-22-05 Meet Karlyn B. ~ “Heyy! I am always on the computer and I don’t know why, but I decided to google search my name “Karlyn” I had noo idea there were soo many out there, as did everyone else. I too get my name mispronounced alot. When my mother was pregnant with me, shortly after her father died, he came to her in a dream. He said “Name your daughter Karlyn.” She was confused, but got to thinking about it. His name was Karl, and my mom’s middle name was Lynn. So, put them both together and get Karlyn! WOW!!! we were soooo suprised to find this website! As with everyone else, we thought we had the only Karlyn in the world (Especially spelled the same way)!!! We had originally planned to spell it as “Carlyn” but all the nurses in the nursery kept calling her “Carolyn”. So in an effort to prevent this in the future we changed it to the current spelling. Still today, everyone mispronounces her name (calling her “Carolyn”). How neat that you created this website just for the Karlyns of the world!! 3-24-05 Meet Karlyn Mason ~ “I had no idea so many people were named Karlyn! My parents probably thought they were the first ones to think of it. I have a lot of trouble with people mispronouncing “Karlyn” too…mostly people want to say it like “Carolyn.” Pretty much everyone calls me Karli, though. I live in New Hampshire, but I will be studying music at the University of Maryland next fall.”

2-22-05 Meet Karlyn Francis ~ “Dallas Texas - I was born in 1963. My Father was in the Navy and my parents lived on base next to a family that had a little girl named Karlyn. My parents were not sure how she spelled it, but liked the name very much and knew they would name one of their girl’s “Karlyn”. I have always felt special because of my name, there is just something about it. I have only met one other Karlyn, and I worked with her at a bank here in Dallas. I also get very aggravated when my name is mispronounced. I get called Carla, Carmen,and Carloyn. My family calls me Karlie. I currently work in the Criminal Justice Field. I have never heard of the french, latin or german origins of the name but i do know that in scottish gaelic, when spelt ‘carlin’, means witch or ‘little witch’. I am a wiccan so am not offended but very smitten with my name. I’m still in high school and plan to become a photographer or writer, or both! We should write to souvenir comanies and tell them to print our name, it’s more common than they think!”

09-20-04 Meet Karlyn Moore ~ Little Rock, Arkansas ~ “I am from Little Rock, Arkansas. I have completed my master’s degree in psychology and am working at Arkansas Rehabilitaiton Services as a Psychological Examiner. I am getting married December 4, 2004 to a wonderful man who is smart, funny, and creative! He also plays guitar in a local band. My mother told me that she combined parts of both her and my fathers middle names to make my name. (Karen and Lyn — Kar+lyn). I too, have struggled with never getting to buy cute pencils and stickers with my name printed…but always appreciated the fact that I was an “original”. However, as time has progressed, I’ve realized I’m definitely not alone with this “original” name!”
