Who knew, one day, I would be teaching. But that’s exactly what I’ve been doing since Fall 2000. I’m fortunate to be able to teach some of my favorite things ever.. computers and computer design. I tell ya, I’m truly grateful!

Through the years of syllabus and lesson planning, I’ve come across some amazing programs and resources online. I’ve been sharing them with students, families and other teachers, but knew I needed to have a way to show my favorite finds to everyone else as well. So, I began a little blog about these sites back in late 2007, or early 2008.. can’t remember when exactly, and I’ve been sharing these amazing resources every since.

Free Your Phone

If you own a cell phone or wireless device, you’re being held hostage by the giant telecom companies. You discovered this if you recently shopped for a new phone — you’re forced to use AT&T if you want a new iPhone, and you’re stuck with Verizon if you want a Blackberry Storm. I just took action and I hope you will join me.

In fact, eight of the 10 most popular wireless devices on the market today are shackled by “exclusivity deals” meaning you can only get service from a certain provider, or your phone is basically worthless. But it doesn’t have to be this way. In Asia and Europe, up to 80 percent of cell phones sold can work on any network. Yet here in the United States, you’re chained to one company, so you can’t shop around for the best service deal. That’s not a free market that’s just un-American!

I just sent an email to Congress asking them to change the wireless market, and Free Our Phones so we can shop around for the phone we want, and the service deal we want. Would you take a minute to do the same?

A few years ago consumers’ outrage forced the industry to let us take our cell phone numbers with us when changing companies. Let’s use our voice once again to Free Our Phones from exclusivity deals.

Tomato Gardening

.. Sharing some of my own home-grown, just picked tomatoes.

Tomatoes are in my opinion the best fruit vegetable there is. Cherry tomatoes with their sweet and tangy taste can be eaten whole. As they are small in size you can just pop them in your mouth. Tomatoes give salads a dash of red color. Pasta and pizza are made even tastier with fresh tomato sauce poured over them. And these are just some of the benefits you will get from tomato gardening.

Inbox Cash, really

I’ve been a member of In Box Dollars for a couple of years now. I like this program for it’s no hassle way to make a few extra bucks. This is certainly no get-rich-quick program. It’s slow, but it’s steady and you earn by doing surveys, making purchases online and clicking to sites they send to your email in-box. It works similarly to the My Points Program, which I do also and have been a member of since January 2000. I’ve opted to receive my cash rewards through in box dollars via check. But with My Points, I usually request my rewards in the form of gift cards. I’ve received hundreds of gift cards to places like Starbucks, KMart, Target, Boarders, B&N and many others.. they have a huge list of vendors they work with. It’s too easy not to just do. It takes no time at all to click on a link from an email. I’ve been doing it so long, it’s just second nature at this point. Once you earn your first check with in box dollars, you become a “Gold” member and they send you even more offers, so you earn points faster.

Family, Friends and Fireworks

It’s still officially Independence day 2009. Happy 233rd Birthday USA! I got one more hour till it’s over. I already posted photos from the earlier part of my day with hubby, supervising his planting and visiting our favorite nursery, but I wasn’t through.. obviously. I got a new camera a few months back, and was curious as to how my firework photos would come out this year. I was pleased! Many more photos came out looking like actual fireworks and not like alien glares. Yay! So, because I like to share (don’t act surprised!), I have some of my favorites posted below. What’cha think?
